I have a love/hate relationship with cranberry sauce. Real, legit cranberry sauce is one of my favorite things on the planet, but if you put a can of pre-packaged cranberry jello on my plate, I will revolt. At our Friendsgiving last weekend, a good friend of mine made some of the most delicious cranberry sauce I've ever had. It was way too good not to share. It's simple to make, but it has incredible results. Enjoy!
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
1 lb fresh cranberries
1 orange (zest & juice)
1 cup water
1 cup organic cane sugar
2 dashes of black pepper
Instructions
Add cranberries to a large pan over medium heat.
As the cranberries soften, zest and juice the orange.
Add orange zest and stir in.
After a couple of minutes, add juice, water, sugar, and pepper. Stir until fully mixed in.
Continue to cook until cranberries are mostly broken down, stirring occasionally.
Serve warm. But it tastes great cold with your leftovers too!
