My mother was born on March 20th, the first day of spring. Growing up, one of her nicknames was Dame Printemps (French for ‘Lady Spring’). I have to imagine that this wasn’t just a reflection of her birthday, it was a reflection of her incredible spirit. My grandmother always said this about my mom as a child: “The minute you turned your back on her she was naked and up a tree!” Though clothed and on level ground as an adult, my mom continues to have that incredible energy of springtime. Even at 80+ years old she still has the passion, energy, joy, and generosity of someone who is just getting started. As we turn the bend from winter to springtime and turn our intention to energy and renewal, this recipe is in honor of Dame Printemps!
1 cup filtered water
1/2 lemon juice (squeezed)
