To get to the real you, it’s important to get down the bottom of all those dead layers of skin sitting on the surface of your face. Did you know that the skin’s shedding cycle is 4-6 weeks, and natural skin turnover slows as we age? A proper skin routine should involve weekly exfoliation, and we also need to address the buildup in the pores that has accumulated underneath the dead skin. And sometimes the answer is only as far as your kitchen…
Honey is a phenomenal skin tonic due to its antibacterial nature. And since it’s so full of antioxidants, it’s actually phenomenal for tissue regeneration and acne prevention (despite its sticky texture). Add in some citric acid found in orange juice and your skin is naturally exfoliated. And a touch of sea salt preserves the mixture for up to 10 days without need for refrigeration. This DIY purifying face mask is fantastic for exfoliating the skin AND cleaning out the pores! Good to use twice a week!
Orange-Honey Facial Mask
½ cup raw honey
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice (the more pulp, the better)
1 tablespoon sea salt
Directions:
Mix honey and orange juice to form a paste. If needed, add more honey to thicken.

Rinse well with lukewarm water.
